Hello everyone!
I’m very excited because today I will be spending the day at the best festival of the world… Tomorrowland! I already got to go there 5 years ago and I really had a blast! For a few years we also tried to buy tickets again, to go the full three days, but we never got hold of them. This year, my best friend (now she definitely is! :D) got hold of two tickets and invited me to join her. I didn’t doubt a second! A million thanks to her!
So here I am, writing this blog one day in advance and thinking about everything I still have to take care of. One of the most important things: my outfit! You might be laughing right now, but your outifit really is one of the most important things when attending a festival. You’ll be spending the entire day in those clothes, so they better be comfortable and not bother you. These are my tips for an awesome festival day without outfit issues whatsoever.
1. Keep it simple
I know that it is extremely tempting to pull everything out of the closet (literally) and go for that super cool and fashionable festival outfit that is super Instagrammable etcetera, but there is nothing wrong with keeping it simple. Tomorrowland is a fairytale-like festival, but that doesn’t mean you have to look like a fairy yourself. Leave that to the dancers and the staff.
2. Keep it comfortable
This is probably my most important tip, keep it comfortable! A dance festival is like a night out, but instead your night out will probably be 2 to 3 times longer than usually. In that case, you just want to feel comfortable. An outfit that looks cool but doesn’t feel right is going to make you feel uncomfortable for most of the day and it will impede you from enjoying your day to the fullest. The best tip I can give you: put on one of your favourite pieces of clothing because those are usually also the ones you feel best in. And, not to forget, make sure you wear the most comfortable shoes you have (and take into account that they will get dirty). Shoes with a thin and flat sole will make your feet hurt in no time. Nikes for the win!
3. Be prepared for everything
Now, this might sound a bit dramatical but I’m just trying to say that you should try to keep everything into account (weather-wise mostly). Big festivals mean a lot of people and a lot of people means a lot of body warmth. It is surprising how hot it can get when there’s thousands of people dancing around on a grass field. So, I usually look at the weather forecast and add about 2-3 degrees to the temperature because that is what you are going to get. However, also keep in mind that it can get cold in the evenings, so be prepared and pack a sweater. As for rainy weather, festivals usually hand out free ponchos once it starts raining heavily, so don’t worry about packing a poncho or rain coat. That’s just more weight on your back and you don’t want that.
4. Take a backpack
I understand that this is a personal choice but I honestly believe that a backpack is the best choice when going to a festival. You don’t want to be dragging around a big bag and the small bags don’t allow you to take a sweater. So a backpack it is! The extra benefit of a backpack is that it’s better for your back. I always get terrible back pains when I walk around with a purse all day. A backpack divides the weight over both your shoulders and is much more comfortable. Extra tip: try to take a backpack with cords which you can tie up. That way, no one can get into your backpack without having to untie the cords.
I guess that’s all I wanted to share with you guys. If you have any other tips, please let me know!
